Part II
What Is Part II
Part II is a computer-based test, covering clinical sciences. It consists of 255 questions across six domains.
The administration of Part II is divided into two sessions; each session consists of three domains.
Session 1: General Diagnosis, Neuromusculoskeletal Diagnosis, and Diagnostic Imaging
Session 2: Principles of Chiropractic, Chiropractic Practice, and Associated Clinical Sciences
You are allotted 3 hours and 26 minutes of total testing time for Part II. Testing appointments are 4 hours with a tutorial, end of exam survey, and an optional 15-minute break after the first session.

Who Can Take Part II?
- You may take Part II in your third year if you are enrolled in an eligible chiropractic college.
- Your registrar must approve your application.
- See additional eligibility requirements if you have graduated, or are retaking Part II.
Topics, Sample Tests and Reference Texts
The NBCE develops every exam based on a test plan. The detailed Part II Test Plan includes topics, subtopics, and weightings (the percentage of the test devoted to each topic).
The NBCE uses reference texts from the chiropractic colleges. See the Part II Reference Texts list.
The NBCE offers Sample Tests for each Part II domain ($15 each) and a sample test including all domains for $60. You will receive an overall score for the test, but will not see which questions were answered correctly/incorrectly.
Test Sites And Test Site Rules
The NBCE offers Part II at chiropractic colleges and Prometric testing centers across the country. Each test site utilizes computer-based testing. You can select a test site when you apply. See the list of on-campus Test Sites.
The NBCE is committed to exam security. The only item you are allowed to bring into the secure testing area is one form of ID. The NBCE will provide a place to store your car key (one key allowed). Please review the complete list of Test Site Rules before you arrive to take your test.

What Is A Passing Score For Part II?
In order to achieve a passing score, you must demonstrate proficiency in each domain. The NBCE recommends a passing score of 375 for each domain of the Part II Examination.

Withdraw / Reschedule
Prior to the published application deadlines, examinees may withdraw from or reschedule their Parts I, II, III, Physiotherapy computer-based exams using the Prometric scheduling tool. After published deadlines, you may not make any changes to your appointment and the NBCE will issue no refunds. Cancellations and reschedules are allowed as follows:
- 30 or more days prior to appointment – no charge to examinee.
- 29-16 days prior to appointment – Prometric charges a $50 reschedule/cancellation fee.
- 15 days or less prior to appointment – candidate cannot reschedule or receive a refund.
